Regular sewing classes are held at Fine Fabrics, every Thursday 10.30am until 3pm Gill Ford will help you with any dressmaking sewing project that you are working on, these classes are very popular so please ring the shop to book a space, Gill Ford also holds this class alternate tuesdays 10.30am until 4pm again please call the shop to book a space
Stray Knitters Group meets alternate Saturday mornings 10am until 12.30pm, any knitting issues you may have or just want to meet other local knitters, all welcome, £4.00 per session, tea and coffee supplied, next meeting is October 21st 2017.
We also have knitting classes, love knitting but don't know how to get that professional finish learn to block your project, weave in the ends and sew up the seams. Want some inspiration then join in ith our knit-a-long we are starting on October 1st through until March 31st 2018 we are knitting a hexagon each month from the Dee Hardwick 'A Story in Yarn' book, we have chosen six of her designs suitable for beginners as well as the more seasoned knitter, there is some intarsia work but we can give you guidance on how to do this. We have made a few design edits and there is also an exclusive design which will be revealed as the last hexagon....so excited about this hope you can join in the fun

The intarsia knit along begins
Join in the fun of the knit along. It has already proved so popular, this would make a brilliant gift we can post the boxes out, all the instructions will be in the boxes along with all the things you will need to complete the hexagons, there are two boxes the first available from October 2017 the next box will be ready in January 2018, but you can decide when you want them sent. In the first box you will get the Dee Hardwick book, knitting needles, yarn to complete the first three hexagons, a colour chart of the design changes we have made as well as tips and guidance on intarsia knitting, in the second box you will get yarn to complete the next three hexagons, design chart with the colour changes we have made as well as the unique design surprise ( which i am dying to share but can't...) tips on sewing up the hexagons, needles to help sew them together and another surprise.
Yorkshire School of Sewing has a two day course booked for Wednesday October 18th and Wednesday !st of November, you will learn everything you need to know and make your perfect Chanel style jacket. You will work your little cotton socks off at the same time having a wonderful time creating a wardrobe classic that you will wear time and time again, in fact after this course i would expect to see more than one in your wardrobe, i would have a bet with you about this, but i would be cheating as all the ladies that have done this course in the past have made more than one.
The dark nights are here so how about spending a few hours on a thursday evening or a Saturday afternoon creating something either for yourself or a gift for christmas.
Thursday evening 2nd November, 6pm until 8.30pm Make a Lampshade £35.00, frames are supplied but you will need to supply your own fabric, we do have plenty of fabric suitable in the shop and we can advise on the type of fabric but the colours are your decision. These lampshades are great fun to do and the perfect way to update your home in time for Christmas, then change the shade for Spring and Summer, after 2 hours you will go home with the finished project.
Saturday afternoon 4th November. 2pm until 4.30pm, Make a Cosmetic box this can be also be used for sewing /knitting accessories, great class to learn how to insert a zip, interfacing and zip will be supplied cost £20.00, if you have any fabric you want to make it in then please bring it along though it needs to be a minimum of 40cm of outer and 40cm of lining fabric, you can also bring any trims that you would like to embelish with. You will go home with your finished project, the pattern and the knowledge to make it again and in different sizes
Yorkshire School of Sewing on Wednesday 15th November, you will learn everything you need to know about sewing with stretchy knitted jersy fabrics, Gillian has a one day course on Fitting and sewing with knit fabrics with all the lovey stretchy fabrics that are available now don't let this opportunity pass you by we will not get Gillian back with this course until next year when you will be wanting to do summer skirts and dresses not snuggly sweater dresses and tops.
Always wanted to learn to sew but never had the courage just to have a go then join Gillian from the Yorkshire School of Sewing on Wednesday 9th of December for Start at the begining all the guidance you will ever need to start you on your journey to creating your own clothes, bags, cushions, anything you would like to create.
